About the opportunity

We are currently hiring an Engineering Manager based in Berlin or remote to lead a team of software engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on developing, optimizing, and scaling our fintech software. In this role, you will drive technical excellence, mentor and develop your team, and ensure the successful delivery of strategic projects.

In this role you will:
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and support to help them achieve their professional goals and foster innovation.

  • Proactively support the engineering team to deliver incremental value by hands-on contribution.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive and actionable feedback, and cultivate a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define pragmatic solutions to meet the immediate needs of the business.

  • Strong and effective communication with ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Drive technical and operational excellence by managing features from concept to completion, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of engineering efforts and align technology with business goals.

What you need to be successful:
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing teams of engineers in a fast-paced, agile environment, preferably in fintech.

  • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in SaaS, fintech or payments technologies companies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Strong technical expertise in backend development, cloud infrastructures, and distributed systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion and deliver results in a timely manner across multiple countries and markets.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • A solid understanding of software architecture, system design, and modern development methodologies, particularly in cloud-based environments.

  • Experience working with distributed teams, promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging in a remote setup.

  • A passion for mentoring, coaching, and fostering the growth of your team members.

  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and drive continuous improvement in platform reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
