Scopely is looking for a Senior Creative Director, Game Design to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in either Ireland, Spain, Portugal or the UK on a hybrid/remote basis. We can support you with visa sponsorship and relocation assistance.

Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed 4X MMO was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue MMS games on the market.
What You Will Do
  • Creative Vision: Develop and articulate the creative direction for Star Trek Fleet Command, aligning it with the game’s overall strategy and player needs.
  • Gameplay Innovation: Lead all aspects of the design and balance of core gameplay loops and new features, ensuring they are fun, immersive, and aligned with high-level product goals.
  • Leadership: Guide, support, and motivate a dedicated team of designers, cultivating a collaborative, innovative, and goal-oriented environment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with project leads across Art, Engineering, Product, and Production to deliver a cohesive and engaging player experience.
  • Live Operations: Collaborate with the live operations team to ensure ongoing player engagement and retention through inventive content and feature updates.
  • Player-Centric Design: Apply player insights and behavioural data to iterate and refine the game experience, ensuring it meets the expectations of a diverse, global player base.
  • Commercially Aware Design: Balance the requirements of the service as a business with crafting a truly compelling game experience.
  • Documentation: Own the creation and maintenance of detailed game design materials to ensure effective communication of ideas across departments.
  • Industry Trends: Stay abreast of industry trends, integrating innovative practices and technologies into the game's development.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 10+ years in the games industry, with substantial experience in leading creative efforts for mobile, multiplayer, and live-service games.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor creative teams, driving a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Design Expertise: Strong understanding of gameplay mechanics, player engagement, and behavioural economics, particularly within the F2P mobile game space. Experience in 4X titles and complex Economies is highly desirable
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborative Approach: Ability to work cross-functionally, ensuring alignment between creative vision and technical or business constraints.
  • Player Focus: Deep empathy for players and a passion for delivering outstanding gameplay experiences.
