Remote Mortgage Underwriter | WFH Opportunity

Job Overview

Join our esteemed national lending team as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter in a remote capacity! We are seeking a motivated individual with a strong command of Conventional, Jumbo, and Government underwriting standards to assess borrower financials and credit data alongside property valuations, enabling sound lending decisions. You will work in tandem with our committed production team to facilitate an efficient loan closing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and render decisions on agency conforming, jumbo, FHA, and VA residential mortgage loans.
• Verify and scrutinize critical financial information and documentation, ensuring that loan files are comprehensive with all requisite credit and legal documents.
• Review appraisal reports to identify and address any discrepancies.
• Perform an in-depth analysis of applicants’ income, expense data, asset documentation, credit reports, and property valuations to validate borrower eligibility for loans.
• Calculate qualifying ratios and evaluate creditworthiness, offering informed risk assessments.
  
  

Required Skills

• Expertise in underwriting VA, FHA, Conventional, and Jumbo loans.
• Profound understanding of the mortgage lending process.
• Competence in performing essential loan calculations such as DTI and LTV.
• Proficiency in preparing detailed findings reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple files concurrently.
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-Conforming mortgages is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
