Job Overview

As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you will be instrumental in guiding clients through their mortgage selections, with a primary focus on purchase lending. Your role will involve providing expert advice, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, and delivering outstanding service throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with prospective and existing customers to explore mortgage options for purchase loans.
  • Occasionally assist former clients with refinancing loans.
  • Oversee the loan process in compliance with legal, company, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Follow up with clients regarding submitted documents, review credit reports, and conduct further research as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of FHA, FNMA, FHMC, VA, and USDA products to enhance service and communication with borrowers.
  • Adhere to phone disclosure requirements during customer interactions.
  • Clearly explain various loan products to clients, ensuring they understand their options.
  • Guarantee that all loans comply with relevant guidelines, state and federal regulations, and investor requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with operations staff for streamlined file processing.
  • Provide exemplary customer service throughout the loan process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with agents and title companies.
  • Participate in professional associations, such as banker associations or community organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in FHA, FNMA, FHLMC, VA, and USDA products.
  • Solid understanding of purchase transactions and applicable guidelines.
  • Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and loan origination systems.
  • Experience with industry-specific software (e.g., lead management systems, DU, LP, Appraisal Management Software) is preferred.
