Job description

Join our team and report directly to the Vice President of Portfolio Optimisation & Pricing, where you'll take the lead in shaping the future of our demand and generation volume forecasting function! 

In this pivotal role, you’ll not only drive the accuracy of our long-term and short-term energy forecasts but also play a key part in optimizing our retail and generation portfolios.

Your expertise will empower our growing organisation, providing operational forecasting services that enhance our decision-making and strategic planning. As the architect of precise volume forecasts, you’ll be at the forefront of our volume risk management efforts, significantly influencing our competitiveness and financial success.

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

  • Experience of managing and developing analysts in a commodity trading environment;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills paired with curiosity and willingness to develop creative solutions to new challenges;
  • Experience in electricity markets with particular focus on renewables;
  • Experience of development and commercialisation of time series models;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences;
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, proficiency in cloud-based data analysis tools and forecasting software.

How will I spend my time in this role? 

  • Lead and coach a team of forecasting analysts;
  • Work with IT, Data and Infrastructure teams to ensure that the development pipeline is appropriately prioritised and agreed service levels with respect to system performance and data ingestion are respected;
  • Manage the relationship with external vendor partners to ensure prompt delivery of services/data sources across Forecasting solutions;
  • Procure, develop and maintain best-in-class volume forecasting models and tools;
  • Ensure that robust business processes and controls are in place to carry out BAU forecasting activities of the Company’s energy position of generation and retail customers with the objective to minimise imbalance costs;
  • Develop and report KPIs to measure forecasting performance with particular focus on P&L and risk mitigation impact;
  • Work with stakeholders in the global group of companies to further develop forecasting services;
  • Provide bespoke analysis to the wider Portfolio Optimisation & Pricing Group as requested.
