Software Engineer II – Service Resiliency
GEICO is seeking an Software Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities
As an IT Service Management Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with software engineers and architects to design and implement highly available and scalable systems
- Implement and maintain IT service management practices and DevOps practices to enhance the reliability and resiliency of our systems
- Design, and build process automation solutions and workflows to improve operational efficiency and system stability
- Utilize hands-on experience with SharePoint, Azure DevOps and Microsoft power platform (Power Automate, Power Apps & Power BI) to develop and maintain customized solutions
- Develop applications using Python, Java or other object-oriented languages; use SQL or NoSQL databases, and Container Orchestration services like Kubernetes
- Develop, debug, and deploy cloud-based applications using CI/CD pipelines.
- Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
Qualifications
- Experience building process automation solutions and workflows
- Proven experience as an SRE engineer or in a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of IT service management practices, and DevOps practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Hands-on experience with at least one of Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps & Power BI platforms
- Experience with continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools like Microsoft ADO pipelines.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex issues
- Experience developing on IT Service Management platforms like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow or Atlassian
- Relevant certifications, e.g., ITIL, AWS DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate will be a plus
Experience
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of experience with Service Management on platforms like BMC Remedy or ServiceNow
- 2+ years of experience building with a major cloud provider like AWS, GCP, Azure
- 2+ years of experience implementing with open-source frameworks
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary
$80,000.00 - $230,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
