Job description

Sysco (whose UK operating companies include Brakes, Fresh Direct, KFF & Medina) has an exciting opportunity for Change Communications Manager on a 2-year fixed term contract.


As we continue to transform our Supply Chain & Operations business, the Change Communications Manager will be responsible for communicating several key strategic change programmes to our 6,000 frontline colleagues.


You’ll be responsible for content and campaigns which engage colleagues on topics supporting our business change and transformation. Owning campaigns which involve colleagues in initiatives and projects; celebrate and recognise employee contribution; amplify a focus; and generate a culture of learning, authenticity, and connectedness. You’ll work alongside the Regional Operations Directors, HR, and Communications teams to create and deliver change and engagement plans built on the strategic change initiatives in play.


This is a home-based role, however, will require frequent weekly travel 3-4 times per week including over night stays whilst working closely with the GB depot network, so flexibility and a full clean driving license is essential.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Devise a holistic change communications plan to support our frontline colleagues through changes to ways of working.
  • Ensuring effective liaison with Operational, HR and Communications leads on the delivery of activity to ensure communications are of a high quality and encapsulate key messages, considering multiple stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrate effective, strategic networking skills to develop relationships with key stakeholders, keeping key programme sponsors up to date with communications plans and listen to and respond to feedback.
  • Engaging with transformation and project workstreams to understand and translate their communication needs as part of the communications strategy.
  • Lead the change communications workstream, ensuring our colleagues engage with any changes resulting from our transformation projects and initiatives.
  • Responsible for articulating a key narrative and defining strategic messaging, lead the creation of key communications and ensuring all communications are consistent and on message.
  • Weekly visits to our depots to understand our business, how communications can be best formed to meet the needs of colleagues and understand how the messages are landing.
  • Responsible for the production of engaging and well written content in multiple formats, including audio, visual, and written communications, and incorporating storytelling, briefings and events that meet high editorial and design standards and present a compelling, impactful, and positive image of the programme to key target audiences.
  • Ensure our communications strategy drives engagement and support for the changes introduced by transformation and change initiatives, developing appropriate channels for our people to feedback and contribute to the shaping of our future ways of working.


About you:


You’ll be an experienced Change Communications Manager managing communications in a large complex organisation, as well as experience of leading communications for large scale transformation programmes and embedding them. A proven track record of devising and implementing systems for evaluating the effectiveness of communications. We’re looking for someone who can deal with a varied and complex workload within a large growing organisation. A strong and persuasive communicator, including written skills and confident presentation skills with the ability to have a positive impact across stakeholders at all levels. Highly organised, a drive for simplicity and pragmatic outcomes.
