Job Summary
The Proposal Solutions Representative role is responsible for supporting nationally scope Acuity Sales Channel Sales and channel customers by providing basic to medium level quoting and bid support. Responsibilities may be, but not limited to: quarterbacking product selection and pricing, translating the customers needs to Product and Engineering teams for modifications or new designs and managing bids. Candidate should have technical aptitude, high level of multitasking ability while maintaining details and excellent communications.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Project Feasibility
- May act as a Subject Matter Expert in internal meetings during the contract agreement process for nationally scope customers
- Coordinates the cross-functional work to determine if existing Acuity product and/or services can meet nationally scoped customer expectation on form, fit, functionality, delivery and price
- If existing product or services do not meet customer expectation, coordinates with cross-functional team for modification feasibility from concept to customer approval using, but not limited to, drawings, test reports and samples
Bid Documentation and Lighting Take-offs
- Coordinate and/or complete basic to some medium level customer documentation requirements such as Request for Information (RFI) forms and submittal packages
- Ability to understand simple lighting specifications in order to identify lighting fixtures and controls by types and provide the respective counts
- Build and/or monitor customer-specific finished goods inventory plans
- Provide frontline technical support on standard lighting fixtures and controls, including coordination with Acuity Brands Technical Support groups
Quotations
- Complete basic to some medium level product crossings
- Create basic to some medium level quotes within the business systems of Acuity Brands and/or those of the customer which may include low-level deviations for material or terms and conditions as well as gaining Acuity Brands pricing authorization for special pricing
- Perform quote/bid follow-up to drive customer commitment
- Provide clarification on quoted material, pricing or counts against customer Purchase Orders (PO)
Lean Initiatives
- Use Acuity Business System (ABS) Tools for daily task management
- Use Lean principles to identify and eliminate waste to improve their own productivity
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Associate’s Degree or Technical Degree or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Computer skills - proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and technical aptitude to learn new software tools
- Technical aptitude to continuously learn and apply lighting systems product and services knowledge
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player who can contribute to an inclusive environment
- Analytical and problem solving skills - able to identify critical situations and use good judgment to respond in a timely manner
- Consults appropriate stakeholders before making critical decisions
- Customer-focus and assertiveness in driving actions required to create a superior service experience for the customer
