Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and highly experienced Senior Manager of Accounting with CPA credentials to lead our dynamic accounting team. This pivotal role will ensure the financial integrity of our operations while aligning with our mission to support moms by providing high-quality, comfortable clothing. A deep understanding of GAAP and a passion for e-commerce are essential for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee comprehensive accounting operations, encompassing general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, inventory, and revenue recognition, ensuring precise financial documentation and reconciliation.
  • Develop, implement, and consistently enhance internal controls to guarantee compliance and elevate the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to strengthen budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning through the provision of insightful financial data.
  • Prepare timely financial reports for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis in accordance with GAAP.
  • Conduct detailed reconciliations of GL accounts, cash flow, inventory, and revenue while establishing a structured review process.
  • Manage sales tax compliance for both U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions, utilizing software tools such as Avalara (Avatax) for accurate calculations and filings.
  • Serve as the primary resource for intricate accounting issues and regulatory changes, ensuring adherence to financial best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and software enhancements to boost accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits in partnership with the VP of Finance, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate tax filings, working in conjunction with tax advisors to ensure compliance and optimize strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with operational and growth initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Experience with omni-channel business models and accounting software such as NetSuite, Versapay, AP Automation, and Avalara.
  • Exemplary communication and leadership abilities, adept at collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Proven track record in implementing internal controls and managing financial audits.
  • Skilled in managing and developing teams, both onshore and offshore.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, ideally in e-commerce or wholesale within the consumer goods sector, with a preference for apparel experience.
  • A Master's degree in Accounting or an MBA is advantageous.
  • Ability to work during PST or MST hours.
