The Position

We are a rapidly growing healthcare technology company seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer. Reporting to Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering on many data engineering initiatives towards our SaaS product roadmap. As a leader, you will work with engineering leaders and your peers to drive the overall performance of the engineering function and will be developing conceptual design, converting wireframes into front end application code, schema design, API code and many other engineering activities in support of developing a scalable SaaS product. The role partners very closely with Product Management, Architects, technical leads, and lead/principal Software Engineer(s) from other teams. In this role, we expect you’d be mostly focused on backend development with some front-end responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, design, and build web applications by turning wireframes into effective code
  • Work through the complete software development lifecycle, from scratch to launch
  • Design user-based interactions through an impactful front-end architecture framework
  • Develop and design RESTful services and APIs and related data model and schema
  • Collaborate with architects, principal engineers and technical product managers to analyze functional requirements, devise architecture designs that provide real scalability, low latency, and high availability
  • Be responsible for system performance and stability by proactively identifying and diagnosing issues and rapidly deploying code to address production issues
  • Be an evangelist of our technologies and products. Influence and collaborate across functional teams in coming together towards a common business goal and data architecture
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
  • Show resilience and flexibility in navigating uncertainty and embracing new challenges in a startup environment, while also leading and mentoring a small team of engineers.
  • Develop secure and high-quality production code. Review / debugs code written by others
  • Actively oversee live operations of our SaaS offering, monitoring KPI’s to find opportunities and threats
  • Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability, and performance
  • Organize work around a cross-functional team of Product Managers, BAs, Engineers, BI Developers and Quality Engineers
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends, leveraging them to drive platform innovation
  • Lead and mentor more junior members within the team

 

Who You Are

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, leaning more heavily on backend development, with some front-end experience and knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field involving coding, or equivalent technical experience
  • Experience building applications using open-source frameworks for both on-premises and SaaS applications
  • Back-end experience with Python, flask/Django and any of the leading databases (Oracle, SQL server, MySQL, Postgres etc.)
  • Hands-on experience building end-to-end solutions including UI development with front-end frameworks (TypeScript preferred), Python, CSS/SCSS, and HTML.
  • Must have experience with AWS services, particularly cloud native development
  • Previous experience with developing APIs and shipping web applications with a user-centric mindset
  • Internal drive and confidence to work independently to ensure key outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills to narrate data driven insights and technical approach
  • Experience with Agile software development (e.g. scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with enterprise class software release experience as well as SaaS based short, quick product life cycles
  • Great energy and passion – must be comfortable in a rapidly changing dynamic environment
  • Experience working with Bug Tracking tools such as JIRA

 

Preferred:

  • Passion for Agile Methodology
  • Experience in healthcare
  • Familiarity with HIPAA/SOC/HITRUST requirements
