Job description

Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: Philippines - Remote

Salary: 80,000 PHP/mo. - 150,000 PHP/mo.

Position Summary:

Apkudo is seeking a Network Engineer to help fuel our rapid growth by supporting the backbone of our robotic systems, which automate the triage of smart devices. In this role, you will collaborate daily with Apkudo’s Senior Network Engineer to handle managed switch setups, cable labeling, network hardware maintenance, server cabinet security, and other network-related duties. You will work alongside various teams to diagnose issues and implement solutions. Your work will ensure our networks meet high standards, exceed customer expectations, and comply with ISO. You'll play a crucial role in our systems' success and customer satisfaction by managing key network operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor network performance, configure VLANs, and manage switches; handle ticketing tasks related to network access, including Meraki SSID access.
  • Provide on-site support for Apkudo’s network equipment, aiding robotics and automation solutions, and adapting work schedules to client and business needs.
  • Quickly address and resolve network issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations.
  • Manage on-call network escalations on a rotating basis with the network team during nights and weekends.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including firmware updates, hotfixes, and security configurations.
  • Follow change management protocols for network configurations, ensuring controlled changes are implemented outside of production hours.
  • Oversee network equipment inventory management.
  • Adhere to documented procedures for tasks such as flashing Unifi APs.
  • Use the Command Line Interface (CLI) for network equipment configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create and maintain network documentation, including training guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting playbooks.
  • Understand power cabling and the relationships between volts, amperes, and watts.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining system uptime.
  • Receive training on RF Spectrum Analyzers for Wi-Fi mapping and troubleshooting.
  • Work with the Senior Network Engineer on network compliance checks and work plans related to network expansion, improvement, or troubleshooting.
  • Support remote network deployments for both domestic and international customers in coordination with onsite Support Engineers.
  • Track and monitor KPIs to drive individual and team improvement.
  • Build and maintain internal relationships with regularly interacting teams.
  • Train Apkudo personnel on network principles, troubleshooting best practices

What you’ll need:

  • A degree in Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or 2+ years of network management and support experience.
  • Knowledge of networking architectures and protocols, including firewalls, switching, VPNs, VLANs, multiple ISPs, BGP, SNMP, and RF planning/design tools (e.g., Ekahau Sidekick Pro).
  • Experience with networking systems, including Meraki equipment, TP-Link managed switches, Unifi Pro Switches, and Unifi APs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with network security and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001).
  • AWS CloudWatch troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • A motivated self-starter who is results-driven, conscientious, and an effective communicator.

  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong work ethic.
  • A passion for customer support.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
