Job description

A2 Hosting is currently hiring for an experienced Network Engineer to join our team! The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining A2 Hosting's global network infrastructure to ensure peak performance and reliability for our clients.

As part of a small and highly collaborative team, our network engineers manage the entirety of the network configuration lifecycle for approximately 200 routers, switches, and firewalls in 4 locations.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Cisco and Juniper networking technologies, particularly in a datacenter environment, as well as hands-on experience working within the entire network configuration lifecycle, from plan and design through deployment and maintenance.


Job Specific Details

  • This is a full time, fully remote position
  • Schedule follows a Monday-Friday, 9a-5p US Eastern Time schedule
  • Position is open to US-based and international applicants
    • For US-based candidates, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for company sponsorship, both now and in the future 
       
What you'll do:
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including firmware and security patches
  • Standardize, optimize, and automate our infrastructure for maximum performance and stability
  • Monitor and manage network capacity via NetFlow to ensure sufficient bandwidth and resources
  • Work with automation tools (such as Ansible or Salt) to speed up network provisioning and enhance observability of network health
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to design and implement new network architecture, improve existing infrastructure, and troubleshoot production issues
  • Take proactive responsibility for addressing obstacles and blockers as they emerge; actively seek resolutions while prioritizing open and transparent communication with all stakeholders
  • Continually maintain and improve service quality and reliability across our complex set of services
  • Maintain thorough and up to date documentation on configuration standards, troubleshooting steps, and platform designs
     
Required Experience & Skills:
  • 3+ years professional experience in network administration and troubleshooting in a webhosting or datacenter environment required
  • Proven experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of datacenter networks, encompassing both local and wide area configurations
  • Strong understanding of available networking equipment with the ability to evaluate and select appropriate hardware to meet organizational needs
  • Experience with establishing and managing secure multi-site network connections
  • Experience in the design and development of networks using the OSI model, including crafting comprehensive Layer 1, 2, and 3 architectures
  • Strong proficiency in routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF
  • Experienced in the configuration and management of site-to-site VPN tunnels
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to communicate with team members and leadership
  • Expertise in administering and implementing Juniper routers and firewalls, as well as Cisco switches is required
  • Strong familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible and Salt)
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems with the ability to utilize common networking command-line tools (netstat, tcpdump, ip route, etc)
  • Experience in a remote work environment with globally distributed teams strongly preferred
  • Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are a strong plus

Aside from our data center team, A2 Hosting is a fully remote organization with a globally distributed workforce. With that, there is a lot of flexibility on where our team members can work, although there may be position specific limitations or requirements for the role.

Additionally, since each state in the US operates as an independent entity, companies must have business licensing to hire in each state. Because of that, A2 Hosting is not able to hire in all states. At this time, we are licensed to hire in the following states:
AR, AZ, FL, GA, IN, KY, MD, MI, NC, OH, OK, PA, SD, TX, UT, VA, VT, and WI.
