Business Development Manager (Outbound & New Business Focus)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead outbound sales efforts and drive new business expansion. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying opportunities, cultivating relationships, and converting prospects into long-term clients. This role requires a self-starter with strong commercial skills and a passion for growing business through prospecting, lead generation, and closing new deals.

Summa Linguae Technologies is on a growth trajectory in the area of services related to multilingual data solutions with a focus on enterprise sales and the ideal candidate is someone who has experience in closing deals for Multilingual Data Solution/ML/NLP/Data Science/GenAI/LLMs/ etc.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation & Outbound Prospecting:
    • Develop and implement outbound sales strategies to generate new business opportunities through cold calling, emailing, networking, and other prospecting methods.
    • Identify potential key decision-makers within targeted industries to initiate outreach campaigns.
    • Leverage sales intelligence tools, market research, and CRM data to build accurate prospect lists and tailor outreach strategies.
  • New Business Acquisition:
    • Focus on expanding the company’s customer base by driving the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
    • Present company products and services to prospects through compelling pitches, and proposals.
    • Effectively negotiate terms and agreements with new clients, ensuring both profitability and long-term partnerships.
  • Sales Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to align outbound business development efforts with company goals and market trends.
    • Identify new, segments, or industries with potential for growth and develop strategies to penetrate these areas.
  • Relationship Building & Networking:
    • Cultivate strong relationships with potential customers and key influencers within targeted industries.
    • Attend relevant industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to identify new prospects and build brand awareness.
    • Maintain an active presence in the industry to stay informed of trends, competitor activities, and opportunities.
  • Pipeline & Performance Management:
    • Manage a pipeline of qualified leads, ensuring consistent follow-up and timely closing of deals.
    • Meet or exceed established sales targets and KPIs for outbound prospecting, lead generation, and new business acquisition.
    • Use CRM tools to track progress, update sales opportunities, and provide regular performance reports to leadership.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams:
    • Work closely with marketing and product teams to refine messaging, sales materials, and promotional efforts that support outbound campaigns.
    • Partner with customer success and account management teams to ensure smooth onboarding and retention of new clients.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or outbound prospecting, preferably in a B2B environment.
    • Proven track record of success in generating leads and closing new business.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of outbound sales strategies, including cold outreach and networking.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior-level decision-makers.
    • Data/ML/ (desired)
    • Ability to craft tailored messaging and sales pitches based on prospect needs and pain points.
  • Competencies:
    • Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple leads and tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
    • Resilient and adaptable with a strong desire to achieve results and drive business growth.
    • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze sales performance and adjust strategies accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • Experience in natural language processing, and content services that power machine learning and artificial intelligence applications for large enterprises is an advantage.
