Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Remote/Hybrid Senior Level Substation Design Engineer to join our client's esteemed team in Syracuse, NY. This role is designed for a proactive engineer who is passionate about delivering impactful projects while working in a flexible environment that promotes both personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop substation layout drawings, including plan and elevation, yard layouts, grounding details, and control building layouts for both new and existing substations.
Create detailed substation one lines, three lines, and various power systems, including SCADA and communications systems.
Conduct engineering calculations and prepare comprehensive reports.
Draft equipment specifications for substation components and constructions.

Required Skills

Extensive experience with substation projects ranging from 15kV up to 500kV and a strong understanding of electrical distribution systems.
Proficient knowledge of substation design and standards, including IEEE and ANSI.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
Hands-on experience with AUTOCAD and MicroStation is advantageous.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
A Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred, or the ability to sit for the exam within six months.
An advanced degree is highly favored.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in power distribution and high voltage substation design is essential.
Experience in renewable energy sectors such as Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage is considered a plus.
