Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Biologist (Wildlife Connectivity) to be based in Sacramento, CA. The position is open to remote work. 

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supporting the preparation of applications for regulatory permits/amendments, environmental/permit compliance, and procurement of mitigation, as well as preparing and reviewing reports, reviewing design plans, and representing the client in meetings with regulatory agencies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and provide guidance on permit applications, technical reports, and environmental document sections pertaining to natural resources
  • Participate in meetings and review project design documents
  • Provide environmental and permit compliance guidance
  • Interface with the Authority’s Project and Construction Management teams, regulatory agencies, and nongovernmental organizations
  • Prepare documentation necessary to support procurement of compensatory mitigation

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years of experience preparing biological studies and environmental impact assessments, including biological assessments, due diligence analyses, and special-status species surveys and construction monitoring on lands throughout California.
  • Knowledge of State and federal environmental laws and regulations, including the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Sections 1755-1758, 2081 and 1600-1617 of the California Fish and Game Code, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.
  • Knowledge of and direct experience with wildlife movement, connectivity and corridor principles, conservation biology, species management and interactions, and habitat use.
  • Experience with design or evaluation of wildlife corridors and/or crossing structures.
  • Field experience with the study of one or more of the following: wildlife movement/habitat use, populations genetics, corridor use by wildlife, habitat management and enhancement, and monitoring wildlife population trends.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to use analytical skills to review and comprehend complex information and distill into materials accessible to a broad audience; adjust to changing priorities with short deadlines; work collaboratively across disciplines to find optimal outcomes; communicate effectively with others using courtesy, respect, and sensitivity; and follow and adhere to company policies.
