Overview

Latinos for Education is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Managing Director, People, Culture and Operations to join our organization. Reporting directly to the COO, the MD will play a pivotal role in unifying our people, culture, and operational efforts to drive organizational effectiveness and foster a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. This role will ensure that Latinos for Education’s internal operations and culture align with our mission, vision, values and strategic objectives

Responsibilities  

Talent Management & Employee Experience 

  • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement a vision and strategy for talent management and employee experience that aligns with L4E’s mission and organizational goals. 
  • Oversee all talent management efforts including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, total rewards and employee experience.
  • Forecast and plan future staffing needs in collaboration with leadership based on organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the recruitment consultant to develop effective recruitment strategies and execute high quality, bias-free recruitment processes.  
  • Assess, update, and execute onboarding, offboarding, performance management, and total rewards processes, ensuring alignment with L4E’s values and strategic objectives and talent management best practices.  
  • Collect and analyze employee feedback to assess organizational culture, employee engagement, and DEI effectiveness in collaboration with leadership and the Director, Operations.  
  • Lead the design and implementation of initiatives to enhance employee engagement, inclusion, and well-being in collaboration with leadership and the Director, Operations.  
  • Design and implement learning and development programs that align with our strategic goals and compliance requirements in collaboration with leadership.  

Organizational Effectiveness 

  • Lead goal setting and monitoring processes, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.  
  • Develop and execute change management strategies for organizational initiatives, ensuring effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and smooth implementation to minimize disruption.
  • Support strategic planning processes and ensure alignment between talent strategy and organizational priorities.
  • Design and lead team meetings, retreats, and team-building activities.
  • Maintain regular internal communications to keep the team effectively informed (e.g. monthly team newsletter and internal site updates). 

People Operations 

  • Collaborate with benefits broker to execute benefits selection, open enrollment, and address employees’ benefits-related questions or issues.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and files in people systems (Gusto, Greenhouse, Ease) and coordinate with finance team to ensure accuracy in payroll data.
  • Audit and update employment policies and employee handbook annually to ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations as well as alignment with our mission and values.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Manage employee relations incidents in collaboration with HR consultant and legal counsel.  

Technology & Workplace Operations  

  • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team and Director, Operations and Technology to develop and implement a vision and strategy for technology and workplace operations in a remote first environment.  
  • Oversee the management of our technology, cybersecurity, and knowledge management efforts by the Director, Operations and Technology.  
  • Support the development and implementation of relevant technology, knowledge management, workplace operations processes, policies, and systems.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Director, Operations and Technology and foster a collaborative working relationship that encourages innovation, accountability, and professional growth.  

General Management 

  • Collaborate in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Model our organizational core values.
  • Track against people, culture, and operations-function related budget items to ensure fiscal responsibility with our resources. 
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of general professional experience including 5+ years of progressive experience in human resources and operations management. 
  • Strong understanding of organizational design, change management, leadership development, and process optimization strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable federal, state and city employment and labor laws.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to establish trust, foster collaboration, and maintain productive partnerships across the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide teams towards achieving organizational goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and implement changes effectively.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Ability to navigate and influence diverse organizational cultures, fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. 

Compensation Philosophy

Latinos for Education offers competitive industry rate salary bands to retain and grow talented individuals. We conduct a robust internal and external benchmarking process to ensure that our salaries are competitive.

The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows:

  • Compensation Band: $106,250 - $143,750
  • Mid-Point: $125,000

The compensation band midpoint represents the market rate for a position, and a candidate who fully meets the qualifications and experience required for the role will generally be paid at this level. An offer made to a candidate that is above the midpoint would represent someone who is extraordinarily qualified.
