About the Opportunity

Eriez Flotation Canada Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Lead Engineer to join our Mineral Processing Team. This position will oversee the standardization, and development activities related to Eriez’ Flotation product lines. This role is tasked with the strategic direction of instrumentation optimization, equipment control strategies, and solution implementation that exceeds customer expectations. This position will report to the Global HydroFloat Product Manager in a leadership role for product development, commercialization, and market penetration. This position interacts with the flotation team globally, with the option to be based in Australia, Chile, Peru and USA, and will be expected to work from the local Eriez office of their respective region.

Requirements

In this role, you will undertake the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Lead new instrumentation and control strategy for flotation equipment development from initial conception through the design and development phase up to and including prototype validation and product launch.
  • Introduce and train EF customers, sales personnel, Subsidiaries, and Eriez R&D on Eriez Flotation’s optimum instrumentation configurations, expert process control capabilities, IOT, condition monitoring, and integration of Artificial Intelligence. 
  • Identify and direct external consultants to assess and optimize new instrumentation selection and control strategies to align with industry requirements.
  • Manage technical aspects of strategic field tests for demonstration of new instrumentation and control strategies for flotation product prototypes.
  • Selection and promotion of new flotation instrumentation and control strategies to customers, consultants, and engineering companies through attendance at key client meetings and conferences.
  • Provide technical support in the selection of instrumentation, automation, and control technologies supplied by Eriez Flotation for its capital equipment and Aftermarket projects.
  • Provide technical support to customers for implementing Eriez’s equipment control philosophy in customers’ Control Systems (DCS).
  • When requested participate in the commissioning of the Eriez Flotation equipment.
  • Author/Co-Author technical papers to support the sales effort.
  • Other assignments and responsibilities may be requested by the direct supervisor.

About You

  • Education - MSc Engineering degree is required, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience implementing concentrator plants control philosophy, instrumentation, and process optimization.
  • Professional Engineer registration (or eligibility) in the local jurisdiction is preferred.
  • Experience working with R&D personnel and engineering consultants is required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and report writing experience is required.
  • A working understanding of project commercial processes and strategies is required.
  • Cross-functional project team management experience required.
  • Fluency in English with good verbal and written skills. Competency in Spanish and Portuguese languages are desired.
  • Ability to work closely with customers.
