Lead Engineer – 5G-NR/LTE/LTE-A RAN
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Design & Development:
Architect and develop Layer-2 protocol stack components (RLC, PDCP, RRC) for 5G-NR/LTE/LTE-A RAN.
Design and implement Layer-2 & Layer-1(High-PHY) interfaces, ensuring efficient data flow and minimal latency.
Develop scheduling algorithms optimized for 5G-NR and LTE performance.
2. Debugging & Troubleshooting:
Perform in-depth debugging of Layer-2 and Layer-1(High-PHY) interactions, addressing protocol violations and performance bottlenecks.
Troubleshoot issues in 5G-NR/LTE RLC, PDCP, RRC, and scheduler functionality using protocol analyzers and debugging tools.
Analyze Layer-1 and Layer-2 interactions to optimize overall system performance.
3. Intel FlexRAN & ORAN Integration:
Work with Intel FlexRAN architecture, optimizing Layer-2 scheduling and resource allocation.
Develop and debug ORAN front-haul (FH) implementations for seamless 5G-NR/LTE operation.
4. Performance Optimization:
Fine-tune Layer-2 scheduling strategies to enhance throughput, latency, and reliability.
Optimize NR High-PHY and ORAN FH data flows to ensure efficient transmission and reception.
5. Embedded C Development & Debugging:
Write and maintain high-performance Embedded C code for Layer-2 protocol stack components.
Utilize advanced debugging tools (e.g., GDB, Lauterbach, Wireshark) for protocol and memory analysis.
Ensure memory-efficient and power-optimized implementation for real-time embedded environments.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with PHY and L3 teams to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers for efficient software-hardware co-design.
Engage with ORAN and telecom vendors to ensure compliance with industry standards.
7. Testing & Validation:
Define test strategies and develop test cases for validating Layer-2 protocols and scheduler behavior.
Conduct system-level simulations and real-world testing for stability and compliance.
Perform log analysis to identify and resolve issues impacting 5G-NR/LTE performance.
8. Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
Guide junior engineers in protocol development, debugging techniques, and best practices.
Review design documents, code, and test plans to ensure high-quality software development.
Stay updated on the latest 5G-NR/LTE advancements and contribute to innovation in RAN technologies.
