Job description

We are looking for a Key Account Director to join our team at BenchSci. This person will spearhead delivering novel AI technology impacting research at some of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. Reporting to the Vice President of Key Accounts, this position will manage the business relationship, deliverables, and total revenue for the account. This leadership role will actively support our mission to help scientists bring new drugs to patients 50% faster.

BenchSci is a remote first organization. At this moment, we are welcoming applicants from Canada, the US and the UK for this position. 

You Will:
  • Own and drive the strategic partnership with some of the top pharmaceuticals in the world.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, acting as their primary point of contact.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and coordinating with internal teams to deliver timely solutions.
  • Develop, execute, and own account strategies to ensure value realization, revenue retention, revenue growth, and expansion.
  • Understand the customer's business goals and objectives, and develop targeted strategies that align with the needs of the customer.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends within accounts to identify potential risks, watch-outs, and opportunities.
  • Lead the account team to ensure the successful delivery against account based goals and value frameworks.
  • Keep a pulse on the health of the account and manage and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure all client-facing communications and activities are on strategy and held to the highest standard.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, account services, customer insights, and value to ensure seamless delivery of products/services and exceptional customer experience.
  • Prepare and present reports on account performance, sales forecasts, and market insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Understand account dynamics, buying process/ key decisions to support sales and renewals
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Liaise with sales to expand growthSupport contract negotiations and renewals in collaboration with the sales team

  • You Have:
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in key account management/management consulting, with a proven track record of successfully managing key accounts and achieving revenue targets.
  • Experience in the technology and pharma industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients, understand their needs, and build long-term relationships.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, extract insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify client challenges, propose innovative solutions, and drive business growth.
  • Ability to navigate a team through ambiguity.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to navigate complex client relationships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, science, AI, or a related field.
  • Strong business acumen and financial understanding.
