Job Title: Director of Construction

Job Overview

We are on the lookout for a highly accomplished Director of Construction to lead our esteemed project management team. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of commercial interior projects from initial concept through to final execution. You will play a crucial role in delivering innovative and efficient workspaces for businesses globally, ensuring that project quality, timelines, contractual obligations, and budgetary targets are consistently met, all while fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Directly manage the financial performance of our diverse project portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule while adhering to fiduciary, quality, and timing standards.
  • Strategy & Planning: Formulate and implement strategic business initiatives that promote substantial and scalable growth, including conducting constructability assessments, value engineering, and risk management.
  • Team Leadership: Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives and key results (OKRs), leveraging project data to identify trends and opportunities while spearheading team initiatives that align with our broader business goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identify and cultivate relationships with national partners and vendors, maintain regular engagement with company executives, and manage critical cross-functional relationships to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Performance & Development: Assess team performance regularly, provide coaching and motivation to direct reports, and collaborate closely with the real estate department to effectively manage risks and trade-offs.
  • Contract Management: Lead negotiations, reviews, and approvals of contracts related to lease evaluations, vendor arrangements, and operational tools, showcasing robust risk management capabilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancement and workflow optimization, driving efficiency and effectiveness across all operational facets.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of design and construction methodologies, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, cost estimation, and contract management.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities to motivate and manage teams successfully.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills essential for effective decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Suite.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in managing commercial interior, retail, or hospitality construction projects, including at least 10 years in senior project management or contract executive roles, and 2 years in a director capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a project portfolio of more than 20 active projects with a total capital expenditure exceeding $100M.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience overseeing a team of three or more project managers, showcasing the ability to recruit, lead, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture from an accredited institution is required.

Compensation And Benefits

The expected annual base salary for this role ranges from \(160,000 to \)200,000, supplemented by an annual performance-based bonus. Additional benefits include:
