Job Title: Financial Analyst

Reports to: Senior Director, FP&A

Location: Remote (with optional in-person work at our Tustin, CA if the candidate lives close to our headquarters)

Role Overview:

Join JustFoodForDogs as a Financial Analyst, where you will play a crucial role in driving our financial planning and analysis efforts. You’ll support our mission to provide high-quality nutrition for dogs by leveraging your financial expertise to inform strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly reports on sales trends compared to budget and prior year.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support decision-making in distribution, brand marketing, and SG&A.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances and trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics to inform business decisions, identify trends, and forecast future financial outcomes with a focus on long-term value creation.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess financial risks and opportunities related to marketing, SG&A, and distribution.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and analyses to support strategic initiatives and business decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Partnership:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, operations, SG&A) to gather data and align with financial goals.
  • Leverage cross-functional relationships to enhance financial insights and support enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Act as a valued team member to support our three FP&A channel leads.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions, providing financial guidance and recommendations.

Background/Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within the CPG industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with financial modeling, data analysis, and ERP systems.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with financial planning software (e.g., NetSuite, Solutions 7) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
