Job Title:

Manager - Accounts Receivable, Agency Accounting    

Location:

Richmond, VA; This position will follow a hybrid work-from-home/office model with at least 3 days per week in office.

Role Summary:

Responsible for management of all accounts receivable functions relating to global parent company’s agency activity; plans and organizes the operations and activities of the accounts receivable department; manages employees, monitors activities, and satisfies reporting requirements; manages performance of offshore accounts receivable team to ensure accurate and timely completion of company accounts receivable functions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development and documentation of policies and procedures for credit, collection, and cash application and ensuring compliance by the agency accounting staff. 

  • Manages the collections of customer receivables and develops strategies for measuring and improving collection performance.

  • Creates and implements changes to work assignments, methods, or procedures to meet operational needs, improve accuracy and efficiency of the accounts receivables process.

  • Analyzes, resolves and answers complex or difficult accounts receivable problems presented by accounting staff, and both internal and external customers. 

  • Evaluates accounts receivable system setups and recommends adjustments, training, and process improvements as needed. 

  • Oversees the cashiering team and monitors to ensure funds are applied accurately and timely.

  • Monitors and reports on staff performance and key metrics

  • Acts as a liaison between the offshore team and onshore staff to resolve customer disputes, cash application and collection issues.

  • Prepares reports for upper management and other department managers on agency receivables. 

  • Works closely with sales/marketing to establish and maintain accurate customer information and credit controls.

  • Special projects and reports as requested by senior management.

Function Specific Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience managing professional staff in credit granting, billing, collections, and cashiering functions in a high-volume environment.

  • Ability to review and analyze customer financial statements, credit reporting agency data, bank information, and trade references to determine customer credit risk.

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, regulations, and procedures as they relate to accounts receivable.

  • Accurate, detail-oriented financial analysis skills

  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel-

  • Direct and effective communicator with external customers and internal commercial teams

  • General knowledge of container industry receivables is preferred.

  • Effective planning and project management skills

  • Experience working with analytical software products is desirable.

  • Google Suite proficiency is desirable

Required Minimum Years Experience:

3+ management and 5+ function specific, industry-experience is preferred

Required Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
