Job Description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversee and assist billing and collection staff with billing and collection processes. Effective communication and coordination with the team and management to ensure accurate coding of services, billing and collections. Good verbal and written communication are required. Record keeping must be accurate and thorough. Flexibility with schedule so you can meet critical deadlines as established.

 

Compensation Range: $58-62k per year

Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience

 

Essential Functions:

  • Experience with professional /fee-for-service medical billing and collection.
  • Review data on insurance policies to ensure accurate claim processing and payment.
  • Create, review, and submit claims accurately and timely.
  • Ensure corrected claims are submitted in a timely manner if needed.
  • Prepare materials for submission to insurance companies as requested.
  • Ensure unprocessed claims are followed up on timely.
  • Develop and submit appeals, including supporting documentation as needed.
  • Contact clients to collect on outstanding account balances. Process and send statements as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient care and business.
  • Demonstrate strong, professional communication and interpersonal skills with clients, public, managers and co-workers.
  • Perform general office duties and keep desk clean and organized.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records.
  • Demonstrate the ability to act as a team player in a professional and positive manner.
  • Review team productivity and provide assistance and training as needed.
  • Review facility volume and activity monthly to assist Business Office Manager and Director of Revenue Cycle Management for reporting purposes.
  • Assist Business Office Manager to conduct monthly check-ins with teams.

Qualifications
  • Coding / Billing Certificate from an accredited institute or school preferred.
  • Basic understanding of insurance terminology (out-of-network benefit s vs. in-network benefits, as well as coinsurance, co-pays, and deductibles), in addition to general billing practices.
  • 3-year minimum healthcare experience with billing or insurance verification required.
  • 3-year minimum with healthcare professional fee billing and collection
  • Experience with behavioral health treatment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Professional billing (CMS1500)
  • Knowledge and experience with EMR and billing software programs required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Advanced MD software a plus.
