CopperPoint Insurance Companies is looking for a dedicated Billings & Collection Representative I to join our dynamic team. The Billing & Collections Representative I is responsible for accurate and timely customer billing utilizing knowledge of company products, processes, and internal resources, while also providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers by demonstrating prompt and thorough attention to issues and requests.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn a strong understanding of the Billing, Delinquency, and Collections processes.
  • Respond to billing and collections inquiries from agents/brokers, insureds, and internal staff via phone and email.
  • Research and resolve account disputes and billing discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve suspense (unapplied) premium payments.
  • Perform account reconciliations and transaction summary reviews.
  • Process premium write-offs, credit memos, and other billing adjustments, as needed.
  • Review and address requests to waive fees.
  • Process return premium disbursements (refunds).
  • Process select cash application transactions (payment reversals, payment transfers, modified payment distribution).
  • Code and enter cash receipts into the billing system.
  • Initiate non-payment notice of cancellations/rescind notice of cancellations/reinstatements.
  • Document daily collections activity and provide status updates.
  • Review past due reports, prepare collections related correspondence, and assist agents/brokers, insureds, and internal staff with collection issues.
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with all state and federal regulations and all company collection-related policies.
  • Compile various collections reports for management to review.
  • Confirm payments or negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Collect on delinquent accounts via phone and email.
  • Work with and assist external collections partners.
  • Adhere to established service level expectations for handling time and quality.



Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a professional work environment.
  • Previous experience in accounting, billing, collections and/or insurance is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the workers’ compensation and commercial lines insurance processes, including knowledge of underwriting and audit functions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and research skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal relationship skills.



Salary Range:

  • $43,000.00 - $60,000.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.

  • Employees will accrue 0.0692 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 18 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
