Our mission to transform lives is made possible by talented people who bring diverse industry experience, backgrounds and skills to the university. And today, we're ready to expand our reach. All we need is you.

The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Social Media and Program Assistant for Media Power Youth in Manchester, NH. Media Power Youth is a youth development nonprofit that helps young people advocate for the causes and people they care about by building healthy communication skills. We inspire young people to engage with media in thoughtful and creative ways that support their physical and mental well-being. We facilitate a wide variety of programs and provide resources for parents, educators, and emerging youth leaders. This position will assist in the creation and delivery of media literacy educational experiences and resources for youth, families, and teachers. Hours are flexible with a combination project work in our office and at local youth organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the design of educational materials, such as videos, handouts, and infographics.
  • Support the facilitation of in-person and/or online educational workshops.
  • Conduct online research on media literacy, youth development, violence prevention, substance misuse and other health topics to inform curriculum development.
  • Conduct outreach to schools, child-care centers, and youth-serving organizations to build awareness of our educational programs and the benefits of teaching youth media literacy skills.
  • Assist in administrative and operational tasks as needed to carry out the mission of MPY.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Passion for youth development and education.
  • Desire to work in the social sector and participate in community engagement initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with youth as part of an educational, recreational, and/or mentoring program.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Experience with creatively using social media platforms or a desire to learn.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and G-suite. Knowledge of graphic design/media production software is a plus.
  • Working toward a college degree in a related field (e.g. education, public health, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, psychology, marketing, film, journalism, or other relevant major)

We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. So if you're wondering whether SNHU is right for you, take the leap and apply. You might be just the person we're looking for.
