Job description

Project description

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports (MYDS) in Vanuatu has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a National Volunteer Service Research Coordinator. Many Youths in Vanuatu are unemployed or have a gap period between when they graduate and find gainful employment. The Government would like to leverage this time to improve both the skills development of young people to alleviate Youth unemployment as well as to further instill the ni-Vanuatu values of civic engagement and volunteering. MYDS intends to develop a policy for a National Youth Volunteer Service and an associated strategic plan to inform legislation to form a national Youth volunteering entity under the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

The PCRV will work in partnership with counterparts and stakeholders to support research and design of a New Policy Proposal (NPP) to inform eventual development of a policy and strategy for Youth Volunteerism. The PCRV will also develop a strategic plan to build a pipeline of potential volunteers through engagement with institutions of higher education, secondary schools or youth centers.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Vanuatu together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
