Your missions

🏆 What’s the opportunity?

Embark on a pioneering journey to drive air freight and logistics digital transformation. As a proud member of a rapidly expanding Series B company, you'll collaborate with a team supported by prominent Venture Capital firms like Index and Bessemer.

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will engage with diverse stakeholders, contributing to our company cloud infrastructure, and ensuring, at the same time, the quality of the work. You will experience a culture of open communication, providing and receiving insightful feedback during retrospectives, one-on-ones, and regular performance reviews.

We're advocates of Scrum. If you're familiar with the Scrum guide or have been part of an efficient Scrum team, you'll resonate with our working style. We hope you'll embody our core values: commitment, courage, focus, openness, and respect.

At our core, we believe in a harmonious blend of diligent work, continuous feedback, and the right amount of fun. Ready to join us and revolutionize how airlines handle cargo?

🌍 You can work from (almost) anywhere in Europe and South Africa. We are a remote company, but regularly meet in person, too. As a German company originally, we can support with visa processes only in Germany.

🎬 A snapshot of what you will be doing here:

You will take charge of the infrastructure we are running our software platform on. Our mission is to operate a lean multicloud platform that allows us to run workloads according to their needs (for example cost-effective development workflows and highly-available production workloads).

You will work closely with our software engineers, who operate in a “you build it, you run it” mindset to remove infrastructure obstacles and improve the developer experience. The cloud infrastructure roadmap will be defined by you together with our CTO Mike and you will report directly to him.

Your responsibilities:

  • Operate our cloud infrastructure on GCP and Hetzner including multiple Kubernetes clusters (GKE, Rancher)

  • Run and maintain infrastructure components hosted within Kubernetes, for example Hashicorp Vault, redis and nginx-ingress

  • Keep track of what our infrastructure is doing through Grafana dashboards and alerts.

  • Assess security risks and actively increase security of our operations by thinking about refined approaches to authorization, network segmentation or encryption (during transport and at rest).

  • Identify and implement improvements across our infrastructure stack. More infrastructure as code, better alerting, reduction of cloud cost.

🕵🏼‍♀️ We are looking for individuals with:

  • At least 2 years of experience as cloud infrastructure engineer with one of the major cloud providers.

  • A strong growth mindset. You are biased to action, resilient and a self-starter who is excited about tackling new challenges and always keeps the user in mind.

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills with fluency in English (Bonus points for love of emojis 😎). You’re a great communicator and easily build relationships across internal stakeholders in a remote-first setup.

  • An ability to embrace uncertainty and display a high level of adaptability.

  • A willingness to learn and openness to accepting feedback, generously giving their own in return.

  • Flexibility to run deployments involving downtime outside of core operation hours.

❤️ We think you will love working here if:

  • You treasure building deep, trusting relationships with your team and managers.

  • Innovation excites you, and you’re always on the lookout for opportunities to enhance processes, starting small and climbing your way up to the architecture.

  • Remote work is not just a convenience; it's a dynamic challenge you're eager to navigate and crack open.

  • Ownership, commitment, and the joy of exceeding expectations define your work ethic.

  • Personal growth is paramount, and you're not afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

  • Feedback is a two-way street for you; you believe in giving as much as you take.

  • Voicing well-informed opinions, backed by data, is second nature to you.

✨ We are currently offering the following benefits globally:
  • Company-wide:

    • Home office budget of €650 which can be used to purchase items such as a desk, chair, mouse, keyboard & monitor, etc. On top of that, choose between MacBook Air (M3 chip) or Dell XPS and have it delivered prior to your starting date.

    • Offsite fun & team trips since there’s nothing more important than culture and team spirit. We meet twice a year as a company and once as a team. Click here to watch a video from one of our early offsite events.

    • Unlimited co-working options through our partner desana all around the world.

    • Mindsurance: premium digital mental health care for remote teams.

    • 24 paid vacation days on top of the bank holidays (specific to the country you are in) and special leaves.

    • Permanent full-time employment through our partner Remote.com in case you are based outside of Germany.

  • Engineering-specific:

    • A GitHub Copilot license, your new AI-powered pair programmer who never complains about coffee breaks.- A full IntelliJ PyCharm license to elevate your Python development.

    • Prefer another tool like Visual Studio Code or Neovim? No problem, we are not strict about this.

🤔 What is so exciting about working in the air cargo industry?

Imagine a world without a Skyscanner or Kayak when trying to book your next holiday. That is exactly where the air cargo industry finds itself today.  With the backing of internationally prominent investors, we are shaping the future of how the air cargo industry will work by providing a tech solution for a currently very manual and time-intensive process for airlines and freight forwarders to book air cargo, an industry which is worth almost $123bn. Our solution allows users to transparently and efficiently search for and book air cargo within seconds!
