Salary: £50,000 basic annual salary

Based: Huntingdon

Permanent: 37.5 hours a week Monday - Friday

The Opportunity/Role 📢

Reporting to the Head of Logistics the Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing the transport contracts and delivery processes and associated service levels. Taking ownership of planning activities and managing 3PL partner contracts to ensure high levels of service and a transparent cost-effective operation. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the operational management of our transportation and distribution contracts for the UK to meet strategic needs, ensuring the transport operation runs smoothly, accurately and cost effectively 24 hours, 7 days per week  

  • In cooperation with Procurement, establish strong and measurable SLAs linked with KPI targets that drive service and efficiency

  • Ensure best practice in transport operations and integration of Aliaxis Global Standards into functions

  • Participate as a member of the Logistics senior management team, providing support and cross-team mentorship and represent your branch to deliver transformational Logistics projects 

  • Stay informed about logistics innovations and competitor practices to aid identification, development, and coordination of Continuous Improvement projects

  • Ensure Health and Safety at all times, setting an example of best practice and adherence to global standards. 

Requirements:

  • Experienced Transport Manager or Site Manager within a distribution or logistics environment utilising contract fleet and spot rates 

  • In-depth knowledge of Road Transport Regulations with the ability to audit suppliers to ensure compliance of contracts across all legal and Aliaxis Standards (software - ideally Mercury Gate)

  • Experience leading a complex and busy operation in a fast-paced environment that is undergoing transformation and managing customer-focused transportation optimisation projects to completion 

  • TMS implementation experience desirable
