Position Summary
Reporting to the Care Career Center Program Manager, the Career Navigator will be part of a team of professionals who develop and implement an iterative pilot project to recruit and support homecare workers new to the Oregon health care workforce. This position is responsible for working directly with potential homecare workers to support them in the initial steps of their career progression.
Essential Functions:
- Work with the Care Career Center team to provide comprehensive information and support at virtual and in-person recruitment events.
- Complete a comprehensive support plan for each new provider, as needed
- Support new providers in navigating the state enrollment and application process
- Support new providers in New Worker Orientation sign-ups and attendance
- Support new providers as they navigate state and local government systems
- Support new providers in understanding the benefits available through Carewell
- Refer new providers to Carewell Training navigators to receive ongoing support with continuing education
- Collaborate with Care Career Center team to develop and implement a peer mentorship pilot project
- Provide support to new providers around resume writing and interview skills and serve as a subject matter expert for future curriculum development in these areas
- Provide informal career counseling, as needed
- Provide career pathways support for providers who are interested in an advanced track to earn Certified Nursing Assistant qualification
- Work with diverse communities, including members from different socio-economic, race, religion, and language backgrounds including members who identify as LGBTQ2S+
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively, work well under pressure
- Ability to independently plan and manage multiple participants’ documentation and coaching simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely to supervisors, team members, stakeholder partners, and community members
- Ability to apply an informed equity lens to individual and group coaching
- A proven track record of successful career coaching, mentorship, and/or leadership
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
- Be curious, generous, open-minded, and flexible
- A demonstrated commitment to health care access for all, a thriving in-home care industry in Oregon, and the empowerment of workers
- Readiness to work occasional long and varying hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and travel throughout Oregon based on the plan.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in career coaching/mentorship
- Bilingual Spanish/English speakers preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for supervising other staff members.
Working Conditions
