Senior Mortgage Loan Underwriter

In this role, you’ll use established Conventional, Jumbo, and Government underwriting guidelines to evaluate borrower financials and credit information, alongside property valuations, to guide lending decisions. You’ll work closely with our production team to ensure a smooth process from application to closing. Flexibility to work locally or remotely is available.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and make decisions on agency conforming, Jumbo, FHA, and VA residential mortgage loans.
• Verify and analyze all necessary financial information and documentation to ensure loan files are complete and accurate.
• Review appraisal reports, identify any discrepancies, and resolve them effectively.
• Conduct thorough analysis of applicants’ income, expense data, asset documentation, credit reports, and property valuations to ensure they meet loan requirements.
• Calculate qualifying ratios and assess creditworthiness to provide informed risk opinions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting VA, FHA, Conventional, and Jumbo Loans is required.
• At least 4 years of underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-Conforming mortgages is a plus.
• Proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
• Strong understanding of the mortgage lending process.
• Ability to perform loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.) and prepare detailed findings reports.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player with a proactive approach to growth and development.
