We are now looking for Payroll Accountant to join our growing Accounting team.

Position Duties

  • Handling a portfolio of payroll clients
  • Managing the payroll process and systems that include:
  • Onboarding of client’s employee for AU and setting up their details in Xero software
  • Planning pay period schedules and collecting and collating timesheets
  • Calculate salaries including basic salary (monthly or per hour), pro-rated salaries, and additional wages, and apply the appropriate deductions like superannuation, PAYG withholding, leave encashment, expense claims reimbursements, FBT claims, etc.
  • Applying the correct tax policies before employee salary disbursement
  • Calculation of the final pay of the resigned employee that includes annual leave encashment
  • Per Pay run download of ABA bank files as requested by the client, posting, and filing of the STP file
  • Processing of the superannuation payment per payroll via auto-super or quarterly via manual extraction of the report in the ATO
  • Processing of the worker’s compensation per state
  • Processing of the payroll tax per state
  • Preparation of the Finalisation of the Annual Single Touch Payroll report
  • Addressing salary concerns and inquiries by clients  and other state authorities for payroll tax and workers' compensation
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties to support the Payroll team and Accounting team when required

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • Have at least 2 years of work experience handling AU payroll
  • Understand how to calculate PAYG withholding, Superannuation, Worker’s Compensation, Fringe Benefit Tax and Payroll tax
  • Knowledgeable in Xero software - payroll module
  • Xero payroll certified
