About The Role/Role Overview

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our friendly and geo-dispersed team which is currently located across several offices around Africa and UK. This role will be supporting and reporting directly to the Senior Financial Accountant.

This is an exciting opportunity to be actively involved in establishing accounts payable approach in a fast-growing international business. The role will initially focus on support of account payable management, invoice verification, supplier verification as well as providing support in supplier balance reconciliations.

In addition, you will also be responsible for improvement of Kuda’s accounts payable processes by suggesting ways to improve the day-to-day accounts payable processes. 

As the business expands into multiple operational markets you will be required to support transactions across different regions including but not limited to the UK and Africa.

To execute this function, the role holder will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Verifying invoices and ensuring appropriate documentation i.e. workings or agreement 
  • Work with cross functional teams to resolve vendor and invoice processing matters
  • Timely reconciliation of vendor payables  
  • Preparation of bank mandate and the first point of contact with the bankers
  • Responsible for setting up payments on banking platforms.
  • Responsible for weekly treasury reporting to the management and ensuring there is always sufficient cash balance for day to day working capital requirements
  • Actively monitoring the AP inbox and Approval Max (automated system) and addressing all AP related queries
  • Ensuring correct and consistent coding of expense and department in Approval Max.
  • Provide assistants to the team in timely closure of month end
  • Support in preparation of internal and other financial reports
  • Other Ad hoc duties as may reasonably be requested by Senior Financial Accountant and CFO

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Having 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable field 
  • Invoice and/or payments processing knowledge 
  • Knowledge of accounts payable procedures and regulations
  • Familiar with IFRS and withholding tax systems is beneficial 
  • Experience with working on Xero, Approval Max software and Microsoft Dynamics is preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and strong time management skills 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail 
  • Intermediate to advanced excel proficiency
  • Strong data entry skills 
  • Team Player and self-starter 
  • Strong interpersonal and business partnering skills 
  • Able to Organise, Prioritise and take ownership of the task assigned
