What You'll Do

ShopBack is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and work with our Product team to build world-class products used by millions of customers.  As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and building a high-performing team of engineers. You will be a crucial member of a fast-growing company whose efforts will generate a significant impact through technology and delivering products. To be successful in this role, you must strike the right balance between People, Product, and Technology.

  • Develop an engineering strategy and roadmap that places our systems in a position to scale and innovate in the future.
  • Manage and measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
  • Work effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Collaborate with various functions, and drive engineering initiatives 
  • Ensure engineers have the right tools, training, and support to be successful
  • Balance multiple businesses and product priorities to deliver maximal impact
  • Build a team of top engineering talent that is high-performing, inclusive, and diverse
  • Form strong, trusted relationships with Product Managers, Engineering Leadership, and Business Stakeholders
  • Help your team grasp priorities and provide context to help them make better decisions
  • Drive success in a flat company with few processes and a strong focus on individual accountability
  • Understand the business and develop domain expertise in relevant functions
  • Fostering technical skill development and professional growth of team members using coaching and hands-on learning
  • Partner with the product team to set engineering priorities, estimate the scope of work, define release schedules, and track progress

  • Essentials to Succeed
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and development
  • 3+ years of experience in leading & managing a team of engineers
  • Proven track record of developing high-performing teams capable of solving complex problems and delivering elegant, scalable solutions
  • Ability to lead the technical direction of the team by engaging in technical discussions and being an advocate for best practices
  • Track record of managing, recruiting, and retaining strong engineering talent and growing effective teams
  • Clear communication - both written and verbal with English fluency to work in cross-functional and international teams
  • Experience in effectively executing and managing projects and achieving good outcomes/goals.
