Responsibilities
The Structural Engineer performs structural analyses of low-to-high complexity on existing communication structures (including guyed, self-supporting, monopoles and their foundations) and prepares formal, written reports detailing tower capacity and recommendations for modifications needed to increase capacity. The incumbent also designs new towers, tower foundations and basic-to-complex modifications to existing towers. The incumbent reviews new service orders and determines the proper action to be taken, reviews field inspection reports and recommends remediation requirements on all types of towers. The incumbent will also provide quality control review of engineering services performed by other engineers. The Structural Engineer is expected to independently perform many of the position's essential duties.
Essential Duties:
Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service.
Review tower structures and foundations for existing, proposed and reserved tenant configurations.
Work on existing processes to correctly open analysis projects.
Perform analyses on projects of low complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software and other accepted methods.
Work with administrative and CADD staffs to complete required close-out documentation
Assist in design of modifications for telecommunication infrastructure reinforcing, extensions and foundations.
Work with Designer staff on the development of modification drawings.
Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting.
Adhere to applicable safety and OSHA procedures.
Provide direction and training to less experienced engineers
Answer structure-related inquired from internal and external customers.
Generate required engineering reports.
Keep abreast of new technical methods and development related to tower engineering
Provide quality control review of engineering services
Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field required.
Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field preferred
Engineer in training ("EIT") or Engineering Intern ("EI") certification preferred.
Professional Engineer (“PE”) license preferred
Ability to become licensed as a PE in multiple states via reciprocity preferred.
Structural Engineer (“SE”) license preferred.
Required experience includes at least one of the following:
Experience with communication tower design and analysis.
Experience in construction or field engineering of steel structures.
Structural engineering experience.
Working knowledge of TIA/EIA-222 code and other relevant specifications strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 year’s experience with AutoCAD preferred.
Active member of professional organization or technical society preferred.
Must have the ability and be willing to travel, as required, for job related functions
