ABOUT THE ROLE

Role SUMMARY

Sortly, known for its commitment to simplicity and user-friendliness, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer 3 to join our Mobile Team. In this role, you will take ownership of feature development from concept to deployment, ensuring technical feasibility, high-quality code, and comprehensive testing. You will engage in design discussions, work with both new and legacy codebases, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Your expertise in Kotlin, Android Studio, and related technologies will be pivotal in delivering exceptional user experiences and driving continuous improvement in our mobile applications.


What you’ll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Feature Ownership & Delivery:
    • Lead the development of features from concept to completion.
    • Participate in design groomings, providing valuable feedback to ensure technical feasibility.
    • Implement features with high-quality code contributions, ensuring thorough unit test coverage.
    • Maintain overall feature quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of native platform development guidelines.
    • Work comfortably with and enhance legacy codebases.
    • Utilize Android SDK components, AndroidX, and AndroidX.Room for database management.
    • Optionally, employ Jetpack Compose for modern UI development.



What should you have

  • Proficient in Kotlin and experienced with Android Studio.
  • Strong understanding of Android SDK components and AndroidX libraries.
  • Experience with AndroidX.Room for database operations.
  • Basic understanding of Swift is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with modern UI frameworks, specifically Jetpack Compose (optional).
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, testable code.
  • Comfortable working with existing legacy codebases and enhancing them.
  • Experience maintaining apps in production and a basic understanding of crash reporting, logging, observability, and analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in mobile team/app development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.

This is a full-time, 100% remote position, open to applicants in India. Candidates must be eligible to work in India.
