About The Role

As a Benefits Specialist, you’ll support a Regional Executive and Voluntary Sales Executive for the Life, Disability and Supplemental Health product lines for in-force business. You’ll manage relationships with new and existing customers to sustain and grow business in the Western United States.

What You Will Do

  • Support a Regional Executive and Voluntary Sales Executive for the Life, Disability and Supplemental Health product lines for inforce business.
  • Serve as designated primary service contact for a book of business consisting of accounts ranging in size from 50-499 lives.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries within established service levels.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with internal partners to address service inquiries and provide consultative support.
  • Partner with Implementation Managers to successfully implement new business.
  • Manage all day to day service work including Agent of Record changes, licensing updates, amendment activity, complex billing resolutions, data feed set up, claim escalation resolution and supporting enrollment events.
  • Manage client education around products and services, GO portal and general Symetra processes.
  • Attend face to face meetings occasionally with customers including stewardship meetings, benefit fairs, enrollment meetings and finalist presentations (up to 5% travel).
  • Work in partnership with assigned Regional Account Manager on cases 5,000 lives and above to create a dedicated service "team" approach.
  • Drive proactive service touchpoints with customers and track key activities in CRM database to show our value to clients.
  • Work across organization to resolve issues and provide solutions to client as primary liaison.
  • Manage renewal process for designated book of business, which entails, requesting renewal census to prepare for underwriting review.
  • Coordinate renewal receipt from underwriting and delivery in partnership with your sales executive or based on established strategy by market.
  • Negotiate on behalf of the client and/or broker with underwriting including using knowledge of current small business renewal strategies to maximize efforts.
  • Create enhanced presentation materials for larger premium cases over $150,000 in annual premium. Communicate group renewal decision to required departments.
  • Ensure a focus on continued learning in role as the industry and customer needs evolve and new products and services become available.
  • Manage implementations from a customer facing perspective for state mandated coverage.
  • Support and back up Regional Account Managers and Regional Implementation Managers including help with implementations in peak season as needed.
  • Attend implementation calls for new customers in block of business.

Compensation

Hourly Range: $28.09-$46.80 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your Experience And Skills

  • High school diploma Required.
  • Life and Health insurance license required.
  • 4 to 6 years of industry related experience required.
  • Solid understanding of the external marketplace, generating profitable revenue growth by retaining existing customers, expanding business, and achieving customer satisfaction.
  • General Life and Disability knowledge with an understanding of health and welfare benefits.
  • Sales proficiency.
  • Comfortable communicating contract provisions to customers.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Applications and Windows XP (including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Continuous learner with a desire to grow.
  • Strong customer services skills.
  • Mathematics proficiency
  • Adept problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking skills.
