Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Procurement – Associate Buyer to join our awesome Procurement Team. Members of our Procurement Team are the foundation of purchasing requirements supporting our goal to build large-scale solar projects throughout the United States. The Procurement – Associate Buyer will need to be systematic, versatile, able to prioritize tasks while working independently, and motivated to identify and complete critical project needs promptly. 

This position will report directly to the Procurement Manager. 

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with all BRP partners, including but not limited to Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Safety, Quality and Legal departments.
  • Proactively support the Prequalification of all vendors (Suppliers, Subcontractors, and Service Providers) for the entire company, through the successful entry of prospective suppliers in the ERP system.
  • Champion the established process for re-evaluation of all approved vendors with ongoing process improvement as identified, including tracking the validity of required documents.
  • Generate recurring reviews of all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accuracy with collaboration from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Systems maintenance as identified and assignment of Purchase Authorizers of ERP system.
  • Assist Procurement Manager in managing Procurement Credit Cards and support policy adherence.
  • IFS reporting as identified.
  • Other duties are assigned as they relate to the support of Procurement functions.
Must-Haves
  • 2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related role.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Organized, diligent, and able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and prioritize. 
  • Self-Accountability.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive with minimal oversight while reporting on progress and completing tasks timely and without prompting.
  • Identify efficiency process improvements while challenging current processes.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to process complex, multi-factor problems into clear, actionable deliverables.

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Experience prequalifying vendors, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in IFS ERP system.
  • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
  • Experience with Purchase Orders.
  • Proficiency with IFS, Sharepoint, Smartsheets, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook. 
Education and Certifications:
  • Associate degree in business administration, construction management, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience required.
Working Environment and Physical Demand:
  • This position can be remote.
  • The preferred location is Asheville, NC; for a remote position, some travel is required, 10-15%.
  • Must be able to work East Coast Hours, 8 AM - 5 PM EST, Monday-Friday.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to simultaneously balance many assignments.  
  • The position works in an office environment.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues, and propose solutions for the broader team. 
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods.
