Overview:

LMI is seeking an Acquisition/Contracting Policy Specialist to support our Assistant Secretary of Defense (Acquisition) Defense Pricing and Contracting client.  LMI supports DPC with pricing and contracting policy matters across the Department of Defense (DoD) including the timely update of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS) and issuance of memoranda and guidance.

This position can be supported remotely.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expert assistance and complex administrative support to the government team. Research acquisition and contracting statutes and the origin of regulations, draft and edit regulatory text and Federal Register Notices, and develop economic cost analyses to assess and document the public burden. Investigate how prospective changes will affect regulations.
  • Prepare rulemaking publication packages by performing contract statutory and regulatory research; drafting and editing the approval process documents, summaries of proposed rules, regulatory text, and responses to questions or comments; and coordinating with government agencies for reviews and approvals.
  • Manage the preparation and renewal of Paperwork Reduction Act packages. Research the impact of current information collection requirements, verify need for the information, consolidate data, and draft the notices and supporting statements.
  • Prepare and edit formal staffed packages.
  • Attend and participate in meetings. Prepare briefings as appropriate.
  • Manage multiple assignments from multiple people in busy work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Secret clearance required
  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • At least 25 years of work experience, preferably with Dept of Defense or another federal agency
  • Strong researcher with knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (title 48 Code of Federal Regulations, chapters 1 and 2)
  • Experience with editing documents for grammar and punctuation
  • Familiarity with Government Printing Office Style Guide and Federal Register Document Drafting Handbook guidelines
  • Experience as a Contracting Officer highly desired
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities
