Position Summary

We are currently seeking a motivated Architectural Designer with a strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to join our New York office. This is a great opportunity for a talented individual who can provide innovative and practical solutions to meet or exceed our client expectations while keeping in line with project scope, schedule, and fee. The Architectural Designer will collaborate with Project Managers and Project Architects in order to maintain our client relationships, project deliveries, and project profitability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in the conceptualization, development, and refinement of design concepts for various architectural projects. Ensure innovative and functional solutions that align with client objectives and HLW’s design philosophy.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including interior designers and engineers, to ensure cohesive integration of design across all project phases.
  • Prepare and produce detailed architectural drawings, plans, and construction documents. 
  • Review design solutions to ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, ADA regulations, and systems specifications. Oversee the quality and accuracy of all design deliverables.
  • Assist in the selection of materials and perform systems research to support the development of innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure that construction adheres to design plans and project specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

 Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B. Arch, M. Arch) from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Architect and LEED certification preferred.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in all phases of project development and execution, with a strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe CS Suite, and 3D modeling software such as Rhino and SketchUp. Experience with rendering and visualization tools.
  • Strong technical understanding of design philosophy with the ability to develop and implement strategies that incorporate innovative and functional solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, specifications, and construction techniques. Ability to review and ensure compliance in all project documentation.
  • Strong graphic and visual skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to independently solve design problems as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Commitment to sustainable design practices and a passion for creating environmentally responsible architecture.

 

The expected baseline salary range for this role is $70,000-$90,000 annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider relevant experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
