Job Function

The Consulting family forms part of the Business/Function Consulting track within the IT function. As s Business Analysis Specialist II, the person will collaborate with business units or functional groups to clarify and communicate business requirements, assuring products and services are aligned with business needs. They will become business or function specialist, can be technology generalists or specialists, providing an array of services such as business process improvement, priority-setting facilitation, project definition or design, and broker IT and contract services. A minimum of 5+ years of IT, business process, or consulting roles required. Knowledge and experience in gathering requirements, functional design, and working with business processes and an understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes. They will have strong analytical and conceptual skills.

Position Description

Individuals in this job position perform work within the Business Analyst track.

Business Analysis Specialist II are business, function, or process specialists and can be technology generalists or specialists. They demonstrate the ability to clearly express and share ideas and risks both verbally and written, in a positive and effective manner to their supervisor and team members. Effective in communicating status to the team. Have a clear understanding of policies and procedures, how they align with the overall IT organization and participate in defining and shaping these for their organization. Are able to be effective with little supervision. Normal focus is on existing products or processes but tend to be focused on new initiatives.

Business Analysis Specialist II is seen as an individual contributor within their team. They are competent at managing their time, have interpersonal and collaboration skills. They do not manage other individuals but are expected to be self-directed. The decisions they make could impact their immediate team/specific area of support but could also impact the larger team. As an individual contributor they are considered a member of a group or team and expected to deliver consistent results with less direction and supervision. They will work on larger, more complex tasks which most likely will involve collaboration with a larger group. Their contribution is measured by their ability to complete the work assigned to them, as well as, the success of team. They are expected to have skills to assist entry level team members to facilitate personal and technical growth. The impact of their contribution is to the efforts they are involved with could impact themselves or their immediate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to rapidly assimilate assigned business area's products and processes
  • Knowledge and experience in gathering requirements, functional design, testing and working with business processes
  • Understanding of how IT effects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes
  • Technical skills to support user requests independently with standard tools if available
  • Networks with other PPG Analysts to understand how IT solutions are deployed in other areas to solve business problems
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to learn quickly to develop effective working relationships across a diverse team of functional, technical, and business partners
  • Possess strong problem solving skills
  • Strong business relationships with business and technical teams within assigned area
  • Ability to support software delivery as needed with product manager interactions, specifications and user stories development as needed
  • Ability to support test plan development and change management activities as needed
  • Project Management Skills - ability to lead and deliver small projects independently.
  • Knowledge and experience with SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

Qualifications

  • A four year degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT or a related discipline experience  Strong Analytical and conceptual skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Must have a strong systems and process orientation
  • Track record of participation on IT project teams
  • Must be comfortable working remotely using primarily virtual means of collaborating with colleagues and managers
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to delivering high quality work in a dynamic fast paced environment
  • Possess the ability and desire to foster the development of junior team members
  • Technical skills to support minor user requests such as ad-hoc reports, data extraction, etc.
