Job description

Summary

Yelp is looking for a Lead Product Manager to build state-of-the-art ads features to improve Yelp ads. In this highly visible and impactful role, you’ll work on product areas that grow the advertising value of our marketplace for both local businesses and users by developing technical ads systems and whiteboarding ads features to improve ad designs, create new ad formats and optimize ad layouts.

If you’re looking to own a key part in developing the ads system at a billion-dollar company, and would enjoy working with a cross-functional group of product managers, applied scientists, designers, machine learning engineers, backend and frontend engineers and more, then this is the role for you.

This opportunity is fully remote and does not require you to be located in any particular area in Canada. We welcome applicants from throughout Canada. We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.

What You'll Do

  • Create new ad formats and layouts to show across Yelp pages.
  • Work closely with engineers to develop ad delivery pipelines and systems across multiple ad inventory sources.
  • Enhance the UX and design of our ad units and formats.
  • Perform and direct analyses using iPython and SQL to deeply understand what is happening in our ads marketplace to make complex tradeoffs and identify new areas to focus on.
  • Optimize components of the backend platform to drive more value to advertisers and grow long-term revenue.
  • Work cross-functionally to guide products and break down complex problems by connecting the technical and business worlds.
  • Foster and build a fun, diverse, and inclusive culture that reflects Yelp’s values.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Experience as a Product Manager in an applicable industry with a background in math, economics, or any other technical field that allows you to be fluent in developing ads features with an interest in UX or design.
  • Customer driven: energized by driving revenue and user growth and translating both consumers’ and businesses’ wants and needs into concrete features.
  • Problem solver: loves to break down complex, unstructured problems into digestible components from conception to launch.
  • Effective communicator: able to synthesize and translate between technical and non-technical audiences; effectively communicates topics to stakeholders across different parts of the organization that have complex trade offs.
  • Tech savvy: has experience solving difficult, company-critical technical problems.
  • Operational know-how: diligent on improving processes around ads system reliability and metrics monitoring, constantly thinks about how to make processes more efficient.
  • Strong collaborator: enjoys working across different teams, functions, and timezones.

What You'll Get

  • Compensation range is $95,000-225,000 annually. Depending on your role and level, you may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
  • This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across Canada.
