Brief Description

 The Associate Director of Employee Experience will oversee the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the overall experience of employees at UBC.


 Specific job duties: 

  • Global end to end engagement of the UBC Onboarding process for all employees to ensure positive experience when joining, including leading portion of new hire orientation.
  • Creating and executing a comprehensive strategy to improve the overall experience of UBC’s workforce. This engagement and such as:   Onboarding, working with HR Operations on programs to promote employee wellness and engagement, and improve overall workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to keep employee experience as a top priority and align with overall business objectives.
  • Gathering employee feedback through onboarding, engagement and exit surveys as well as focus groups and other means to then analyse and identify trends for areas of improvement.
  • Develop and oversee a robust recognition program to celebrate and appreciate employee contributions and achievements as well as service anniversary recognition.
  • Lead and continue to refine the annual employee engagement survey as well as ecovadis survey to drive strong results for UBC.
  • Organize team-building activities and events that strengthen camaraderie, collaboration, and a sense of belonging amongst employees.
  • Work with HR and leadership teams to improve performance management processes that encourage regular feedback and career development discussions.
  • Establish and lead leadership development initiatives to cultivate talent within the organization and ensure a strong leadership pipeline.  This includes talent/succession planning as well as mentorship programs.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to develop philosophy, reinforce diversity in the workplace and execute creative strategies to foster the organization.
  • Administrative responsibility of intranet site to encourage engagement and highlighting relevant topics for awareness.
  • Presence at Employee Sites for key events such as quarterly town halls, etc.
  • Plan and lead community relations events
  • Internal HR Communications to support training delivery and workshops on various key cycles such as goal setting, succession planning, performance evaluations, promotion cycles, etc. 

Supervisory Responsibility:  

  • HR Team Members as needed


Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s or law degree highly preferred.
  • 8-10 years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to work autonomously and be proactive in your approach
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
