Founded on a rooftop in 2014 by three friends with a shared love of coffee, MF has since grown into a global brand with a team of over 100 people across the world, with offices in the UK, USA, and Australia. We create plant-based products for coffee lovers, baristas and a better planet. We love teaming up with people as mad about coffee as we are and love nothing more than heading down to their local cafe to enjoy a chat with the friendly & expert barista. 


All our products are 100% plant based and vegan friendly. The company is exploding, achieving record sales figures each quarter. 


Minor Figures would be nothing without the independent coffee scene and our products can be found in over 4,000 specialty coffee shops worldwide, where we regularly run Freedays and Minor Figures FM events. ABOUT THE ROLE

As Export Manager, you’ll oversee the international expansion of the Sales function for Minor Figures. For us, that means identifying and developing new business across Europe, Asia Pacific & and the Mid East - via great partnerships and distributors, and helping drive sell-through. Experience in on-trade, in launching brands into new territories is essential.  Reporting into our Commercial Director for EMEA, you’ll lead & support our sales team in our efforts to have Minor Figures oat on the menu of every specialty coffee shop and in everyone's morning coffee at home.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

In this newly created role, we know it will grow and its priorities will evolve. And we know you’ll manage what’s needed in the role, and when it’s needed. 


But here’s an overview of what we’d expect from you:


  • Develop the international sales strategy and sales targets in collaboration with the GM for EMEA Minor Figures for both the café & retail channels

  • Manage and develop relationships with our key international distribution partners in the café & retail channels in order to grow revenues

  • Prospect and pitch for new business, and develop business in new territories

  • Achieve agreed sales targets, ensuring gross profit margin objectives are met

  • Carefully manage volume forecasting and inventory to ensure continuity of supply

  • Review monthly account performance against sales targets and analyse results

  • Represent Minor Figures as a brand ambassador at customer meetings, trade shows and industry events, and drive customer engagement through brand initiatives

  • Oversee in-store management of product, placement, pricing and promotions

  • Identify market trends and opportunities to inform future sales strategy

  • Manage (TBC) to deliver against their sales targets and the overall sales strategy.

As part of our Sales team, you’ll be joining a team full of passion, hard work and an undeniable love of good coffee. We have a brilliant sales force across retail, Out of Home channels with a growing team internationally. You’ll be in a good place for high energy, unwavering commitment and inspiration every day.


You’ll be reporting into Jochem, our General Manager for EMEA, and will be working closely with teams across the business, namely Production, Products, Operations & Marketing to deliver our goals.

  • A proven track record of operating in export management, and business development within on-trade.

  • Understanding the mechanics of international distribution / including distributor needs / familiarity with customs and export / shipping and freight requirements / 

  • Understanding and love of the coffee industry and the specific needs and requirements of Baristas/cafe owners and retail markets.

  • Track record of building a brand in a new territory, tracking and delivering strategic sales targets in a fast-growth business

  • Strong relationship management skills, customer focus, and communication skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills

  • Management and leadership skills, with the ability to grow and execute robust systems to ensure success

  • Resilient, with a robust, commercial outlook

  • Ability to input positively into company culture and team dynamic.

YOUR COMMITMENT

You’ll be based out of our office in East London. Work from home flexibility is supported but the office will be your base and allow you to bring the energy and creativity to help educate and inspire our team. 


Hours of work will generally be 9.00am – 5:30 pm but may vary with workload or by agreement.  Flexibility may be required due to travel requirements.

Required qualifications
  • Experience in Food beverage
  • Experience APAC (focus on Japan and Korea), Middle east, and key markets in Europe.
  • Foodservice and grocery experience for most of the above markets.
  • Having grown a brand in new territory. Ideally also managed scale up brands abroad.
  • Experience growing markets through clear distributor management and KPIs
  • Coffee or alternative milk experience is nice to have
