About the team
The BlueLabs Civic Tech practice revolutionizes the way government agencies use data to reduce the friction between residents and the essential services they use. Our team develops deep expertise within the areas our clients care about most, then builds data programs that create impact at scale. We work closely with internal government innovation groups and build on the analytics methodology pioneered in e-commerce, advocacy, politics, and consumer finance.
Our program, Market Outreach Data System (MODS), sits within Civic Teach and services the Office of Communication within the Center for Medicare and Medicaid. Our mission is to help ensure that millions of consumers receive the information they need through personalized emails, text messages, and phone calls to enroll in health insurance through Healthcare.gov. We partner with a media and content writing firm to write the content for our Email and SMS campaigns.
About the role:
We are seeking a seasoned writer and editor with a background in health communication, public health, and/or email marketing who will work hand in hand with our external Content Team to provide support and oversight to the production and message testing process. You will work with this external team to draft and review short and longer form email and SMS campaigns, ensuring that they are engaging, comprehensive, accessible, and actionable. The Manager, Content Marketing should have a talent for making complex information digestible and leading strategic communications. You should have experience managing or overseeing external partners and feel comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback on content. You should be adept in suggesting new and innovative marketing strategies and have experience designing and managing A/B testing programs that generate continuous content innovation.
In this position you will:
- Work in collaboration with content partners to write, edit, and proofread email and SMS communications related to healthcare.gov.
- Develop and Execute Content Strategy: Work in partnership with programmatic leadership to develop and execute comprehensive content strategies for email and SMS campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and target audience needs. This includes conceptualizing, planning, and implementing engaging and accessible content that effectively communicates complex health information.
- Partnership and Collaboration: Provide mentorship and oversight to a small team of writers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enhance copy. Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and the production firm to streamline content creation processes and maintain high-quality standards across campaigns.
- Content Review and Optimization: Conduct thorough reviews of both short and long-form content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines. Utilize insights from analytics and A/B testing programs to continuously optimize content performance and drive improvements in engagement, conversion rates, and overall campaign effectiveness.
- Innovation and Strategy Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in health communication, email marketing, and content strategy. Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and experimentation, proposing and implementing new strategies to enhance campaign reach, resonance, and impact.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data analytics, data science, and outreach, to develop new campaigns.
What we are seeking:
- 3+ years of experience as a content manager specializing in healthcare communications or email marketing.
- Strong comfort in working with stakeholders and external partners to lead strategic communications and develop content for public-facing campaigns.
- An extremely organized and detail-oriented person who is comfortable creating processes and loves streamlining a complicated system.
- Strong writing and editorial skills with expertise in translating complex policy into easy-to-understand and actionable content.
- Demonstrated experience developing health education materials that incorporate best practices from human-centered design, health education, and health literacy.
- Passion in applying your skills to our social mission to problem-solve and collaborate within a cross-functional, client-facing team environment
- The ability to successfully attain and maintain a Federal Public Trust background investigation that our government clients require; this includes a requirement that the individual has U.S. Citizenship or U.S. residency for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months).
