Your missions

Your mission
In this position, you’ll develop software that enables scientists and researchers in multiple countries to digitize their work. The modules that you’ll work on are key for the operation of the Laboperator ecosystem.

By joining our team, you’ll contribute to expanding Labforward’s portfolio of supported scientific instruments. And in the process, you’ll constantly learn about different communication protocols and most importantly, the latest best practices for Node.js. You’ll have the opportunity to work with hardware, visit industry conferences and customers. With every new device you develop, you’ll encounter new challenges.

What does the team work on?
You’ll be part of a diverse and motivated team that works on dynamic projects involving hardware and software. 
On the hardware side, the team works with a wide range of scientific instruments. From simpler balances and temperature meters all the way to complex HPLC and chromatography devices. We maintain a constantly growing portfolio of 90 drivers that support more than 150 different scientific instruments.
At the same time, we focus on maintaining and improving our IoT broker, which is responsible for establishing a communication channel with the web application, Laboperator, and the scientific instruments.
Required tech stack
Required Experience:
  • Javascript/Typescript or typed C-like languages
  • Version control systems (Git)
Nice-to-have Experience:
  • Python and scripting languages such as Bash.
  • Linux Systems.
  • Embedded software
  • Use of Scientific/Laboratory instruments
Key challenges for this role - Are you up for it?
  • Write reliable TypeScript drivers backed up with automated and manual testing
  • Communicate with customers to test drivers, proactively when needed
  • Read and understand device documentation & communication interfaces
Your profile
  • Rapidly mastering multi-faceted products and the laboratory field
  • Demonstrating team player qualities with open, honest, and respectful communication
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, goal focused and result-oriented.
  • Open to travel occasionally (at least once per quarter) to customers, trade fairs, or events.
  • Comfortable being in contact with customers
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in STEM
Job experience
  • 2+ years professional software developer experience with TypeScript or typed C-like languages (backend or similar experience is preferred)
  • Project- or professional-based experience with Node.js
Language proficiency
English: Fluent to business fluent (C1)
German: Basic or Advanced (A1/A2)
