Job description

Are you passionate about developing and optimizing lab conditions and processes for a highly skillful R&D team? Do you have the passion and proactivity to ensure safe operations while continuously improving its efficiency? Then you might be our new colleague at Hempel!

We are looking for an R&D Manager to ensure the flawless operations of our R&D laboratory in Denmark, meeting the needs for execution of our R&D teams while ensuring compliance with relevant processes and regulations.

This is a key role where you will report directly to our R&D Head based in our office in Denmark, but where you will also be encouraged to align with other colleagues from all over the world.

You will also have the outstanding opportunity to coordinate a team and work very closely with other key partners such as Maintenance, Quality Heath Safety and Environment (QHSE) or Procurement to ensure top-class conditions for the successful performance of the R&D team.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Together with key stakeholders, set the long-term vision for DK R&D laboratory.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations (invoice management, purchase of consumables, reparation of broken equipment, preventive maintenance plan, calibration, support for new starters, etc)
  • Ensure that the lab is in compliance with all local Danish and Hempel Global safety regulations, and local HSE priorities are implemented.
  • Initiate improvements for identified issues and effectively communicate lab initiatives and accomplishments with users, managers and key stakeholders.
  • Member of the Management Team of R&D Denmark.

What does it take to become our new team member?

  • Preferred Scientific degree, with some years of experience working in a lab
  • Experience with HSE is considered an advantage
  • IT skills at user level (e.g. MS office)
  • Excellent communication skills in both Danish and English
  • Thorough, disciplined and reliable with strong prioritization, planning and follow up skills
  • High degree of independence and solution driven
  • Good stakeholder management skills
  • Enjoying giving support to others
  • Continuous improvement mindset
