Department Information

The IT Projects and Programme Delivery team is responsible for delivering programmes and projects within the IT and Business change portfolios to meet the Group’s strategic growth and development objectives and priorities, and in accordance with governance standards.   The portfolio includes, but is not limited to, technology migrations, product development, Regulatory changes, Client and Customer data migrations, business acquisitions and system integrations and upgrades.  The team are flexible and work across the Group in different locations when necessary. 

Role Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and dynamic IT programme management team within the Group IT division.  The primary focus for the IT Project Manager will be to ensure the effective management of a complex project or portfolio of smaller projects.

A range of IT Infrastructure, Application Development and business change projects are managed by the team, supporting growth targets, regulatory changes and product development strategy. 

Delivery will involve close liaison with both client and internal business stakeholders, operational business teams, IT delivery teams (both onshore and offshore) and 3rd party suppliers.

The IT team is based in Worthing, Lancing, Krakow and Crawley.  Travel will be expected across all of our locations and client sites as the program needs dictate.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing a complex project of work, being either a single complex programme or multiple projects throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Managing Senior Stakeholders – internal and key client stakeholders
  • Adhering to an agreed Project Management Methodology, ensuring that the appropriate levels of governance are applied to all stages of the programme life cycle.
  • Ensuring delivery to agreed business/Client objectives, requirements, schedules, costs and quality objectives.
  • Identifying and managing risks, issues and dependencies that could threaten a project’s delivery.
  • Proactively identifying countermeasures and recommending and/or taking appropriate action to overcome delays, issues, challenges or cost over-runs.
  • Chairing internal and joint client project meetings
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, suppliers and clients.
  • Adherence to all Regulatory, Security and Compliance requirements.

Skills, Capabilities & Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience skills and behaviours:

  • Demonstrable track record of a successful delivery of  a complex project/portfolio of projects – both IT and Business Change.
  • Demonstrable delivery of a complex transformational BPO Project would be advantageous.
  • Experience of building effective cross function programme delivery teams.
  • Ability to provide leadership and motivate a project team to meet the project’s goals and milestones.
  • Strong senior stakeholder management skills,  confidence to positively influence and challenge, supportively and effectively where appropriate.
  • Experience of managing IT projects using a range of methodologies within an Enterprise organisation.
  • Excellent at managing all budgetary aspects of a portfolio, forecasting, reconciliation of actuals and support of invoicing.
  • Experience of delivery with and managing 3rd party suppliers.
  • Ability to work calmly and methodically when under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid problem solving and decision making skills, demonstrable track record of finding consensus with Senior Stakeholder Groups
  • Experience gained within financial services or other regulated environments would be advantageous.
  • A recognised Programme/Project Management accreditation.
