PeaceHealth is seeking a full time Internal Auditor Senior - Organizational Integrity position. This remote role requires the incumbent to reside in OR, WA, AK or TX by date of hire.

Internal Auditor Senior is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization's operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Internal Audit Services (IAS) reports functionally to the Organizational Integrity Committee of the Board (OICB) and administratively to the VP OI in order to preserve its independence. Position conducts Business Operations, Compliance, Information Technology (IT), Quality, and Financial Audits in a complex, multi-institutional healthcare organization with minimal guidance or oversight. Participates in and leads independent assurance, auditing, investigation and consulting activities designed to clarify risk and associated controls. Communicates audit findings to senior management and the PeaceHealth Board of Directors.

  • Participates in an effective on-going risk assessment and monitoring program, Partners with process owners to understand risk and design effective internal controls.
  • Conducts/leads independent and integrated audits in accordance with the approved Internal Audit Plan including development of appropriate documentation to support audit work performed, adjusting for changes and updates and tracking of management action plans.
  • Defines projects (including scope), identifies risk areas, develops appropriate audit plan, documents findings, draft report and communicate results to Leadership with minimal oversight. Evaluates the design and effectiveness of compliance, technology and business controls throughout the system.
  • Acts as an objective source of independent advice to ensure compliance, validity, and strategic objectives are met.
  • Provides education to management and governance concerning organizational risks and their potential impact. Assists with training and education related to compliance to leadership, physicians, and departments.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and responsive leadership style with all caregivers. Actively participates on work teams formed to enhance the control environment. Is an advocate for change.
  • Collaboratively works with business partners accountable for stated corrective actions, goals and standards as well as the organization's vision and mission.
  • Applies knowledge of current industry trends, new legislation, regulatory requirements and areas of interest through public resources and external industry research to enhance work outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare or Business.
  • Minimum of 5 years Audit experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years Management experience advantageous.
  • Experience in some combination of healthcare auditing (e.g. hospital systems, medical groups, third-party payers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, 340 B pharmacy, HIPAA, RACs, MACs, PEPPER, clinical research).
  • Experience in internal auditing preferred.
  • Experience in data analytics preferred.
  • Healthcare experience/training (e.g., RN) preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (for Coding Auditor), Registered Health Information Technician (for Coding Auditor), Certified Professional Coder (for Coding Auditor) Certified Coding Specialist Physician (for Coding Auditor), Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (for Coding Auditor), Certified Coding Specialist (for Coding Auditor) or Approved AAPC Instructor

  • Proven knowledge of IIA (Institute of Internal Auditing) standards and applicable laws, rules and regulations. Solid background and experience with audit methodologies, techniques, and best practices, and understanding of risk assessment methodologies and systems thinking.
  • Possesses substantial knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing, risk management/monitoring, and systems development life cycle principles and practices.
  • Experience using a variety of software and information technologies (i.e., MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), and audit software (TeamMate, ACL, etc).
  • Ability to travel.

Working Conditions

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $48.66 – $73.00. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
