The Meeting Planner with German (not customer facing) is the primary liaison in the Center of Excellence Team and leads the assigned venue sourcing requests. Collaborates with a designated internal team based in another country (customer market) to support Venue Sourcing for the customers. Negotiates critical program components based on knowledge of client requirements from initial request through contract completion and turnover; this includes recommending supplier and destination options and solutions. Ability to work remotely or in a hybrid format is a must. 

What You’ll Do on a Typical Day :

  • Reviews meeting request and support meeting qualification calls with client.
  • Proactively negotiates price, enhanced commission and contract.
  • Creates and sends customer proposals.
  • Communicates with the internal teams and suppliers on a timely basis, information relative to travel program operations.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for all sourcing activity.
  • Negotiate and contract between 200-400 programs worldwide on an annual basis, however, the scope of this position is dependent upon assigned account/programs and may vary from client-to-client.
  • Tactically adapt sourcing to meet Amex GBT preferred supplier thresholds.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in venue sourcing, event or meeting management
  • College degree preferred
  • Experience in hotel buying required
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of international hotels and destinations in Europe required
  • Knowledge of travel supplier operations, overall capabilities/range of services
  • Program management system experience preferred, especially with an online sourcing tool
  • Understanding of and ability to effect win/win solutions
  • Operations experience in hospitality industry or equivalent a plus
  • Prior successful experience in developing and maintaining customer and supplier relationships
  • Prior experience in effectively balance multiple projects/demands
  • Solid understanding of program/event management and budget maintenance
  • Proven aptitude for technology and/or software solutions and analytical skills required
  • Ability to travel by airplane, boat, rail and/or car.
  • Proficiency in English and German
