Senior Grant Management Specialist– WOB

Position Summary

The Senior Grant Management Specialist will assist with federal, state, and local government financial assistance regulation, policy, and guidance. The Senior Grants Policy Specialist will support state and local recipients in adopting and complying with financial assistance regulation, policy, and regulation to improve the overall grant related business processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Analyze laws, regulations, executive orders, and other government-wide guidance.
  • Assumes a leadership role in advising federal, state, and local government policy staff on opportunities for innovation, areas of risk and risk mitigation, and strategic direction.
  • Advises federal, state, and local government staff managing policy development on areas that policy or guidance may be improved to best serve stakeholder communities. 
  • Direct the implementation of relevant laws and regulations, as well as the development of regulations, policies, and other guidance, including drafting and editing content.
  • Reviews the work of and provides feedback to members of the Grants Policy team.
  • Review content and conduct quality control/assurance.
  • Provide advice and applied support to promote content accessibility, sustainability, and durability over time, including contemporary methods of publishing.
  • Track edits, updates, and comments across multiple reviews of iterative content versions.
  • Ensure content achieves a consistent look, feel, flow and voice; is free from typographical and grammatical errors; and complies with government standards, including plain language guidelines.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in grants management, grant writing, policy analysis or related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, public policy or public administration (or equivalent work experience).
  • Expert knowledge of grants process, regulations, and policies.
  • Experience developing and analyzing grant policies for the federal government, a state or local government, a national organization, or a similar entity.
  • Experience and expertise in writing complex technical components of legislation, regulations, or other policy.
  • Experience with business process reviews and improvements.
  • Experience presenting information to an array of audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and compile data and information.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Proven ability to direct the work of staff from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets, and to manage a team to improve processes or systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication techniques, including in response to requests either internally or externally.
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills to balance ongoing responsibilities with urgent requests.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Experience in a management consulting role.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, public policy or public administration.
  • Relevant professional certification (i.e., CGMS, GPC, PMP).

Work Schedule

May be required to work extended hours as necessary to support business need.
